FIT4000 is a '6' credit point enrolled, '0' credit point achievable (administrative) unit introduced for administrative purposes to create the option of an enrolment extension for the Honours Thesis where appropriate.

This unit has been updated as part of a 2009 review and comparison of data with current Handbook, Syllabus + and Callista data.

15/3/10 - Changed handbook synopsis to clarify the need to stay enrolled in FIT4000 upon submission of thesis past the original due date to alleviate the application of late submission penalty. Changed the faculty contact person and the synopsis to make it more succinct. Modified UnitContent/Synopsis: correct typo from FIT5000 to FIT4000. Changes to be implemented Sem 2,2010.

16/8/11 - Changed synopsis, prerequisites and prohibitions to reflect amendment to Honours/Minor Thesis extension policy/procedure and also to comply with handbook content requirements. Change to be implemented from Semester 1, 2012.

27/01/2015 - Outcomes updated to Learning Outcomes for AQF compliance.

25/03/2020: Admin - updating the thesis component word limit and presentation information in assessment on behalf of the CE.

07/10/2020 Admin: Update to include new assessment and teaching approach fields as per Handbook requirements.

FIT4000 is an extension unit for all FIT undergraduate Hounours degree students, where appropriate. Entry only available on approval by the Associate Dean Education where exceptional circumstances have been determined.

Research activities Students will research an agreed thesis topic under the guidance of their supervisor and will receive feedback on their progress through regular meetings with their supervisor.

Presentation and final thesis: 100%

Presentation: this will take the form of a 7-8 minute video. Thesis: the substantive thesis (including appendices) should normally be 9,000-18,000 words for 18 credit point theses and 12,000-24,000 words for 24 credit point theses.
