Role, Relationship and Relevance of Unit (29 Oct 2009, 6:14pm)

This unit is an introduction to the techniques, frameworks and conceptual processes utilised in the interactive game market while also encompassing various other uses for interactive and immersive content. It provides students with an avenue to demonstrate the skills that they have gained in the units FIT1012, FIT2012, FIT2015, FIT2016, and FIT2026 in a games-based multimedia project.

The game industry has flourished to become a significant field of expertise in the Multimedia Industry. The demand for capable and skilled artists, programmers, managers and producers has risen sharply in Australia.

In this unit students will study the various types of interaction, simulation and visualisation related to creating interactive games based content, covering topics such as genres of immersive interactive environments as well as the principles and techniques of game design and game play. In addition, students will learn how to design and develop their own immersive and interactive environments following industry development methods.
