Reasons for Introduction

The purpose of developing a full unit for this is so it can be properly scheduled on a weekly basis in a venue large enough for over 100 students and so it can be factored in to students' timetables to ensure they attend.

Reasons for Change (27 Jan 2017, 3:38pm)

23/09/2016 - ADE updated learning outcomes after consultation with CE. 25/1/2017 - CE updated synopsis to remove assessment based on attendance. Effective Semester 1, 2017.

27/01/2016 - Removed PGO reference in synopsis as requested by Caitlin Slattery. Updated pre-requesites to reflect this unit should only be taken by students accepted into IBL program. Effective Semester 2, 2017.

Role, Relationship and Relevance of Unit (05 Sep 2016, 11:44am)

The IBL seminar will be compulsory for students selected to participate in the IBL program. The seminars are presented by the industry partners of the IBL program and are intended to provide the students with useful knowledge of current industry practise in IT. This seminar series should be attended prior to the completion of an IBL placement.

  1. critique current knowledge of the breadth of IT;
  2. assess current industry requirements in terms of skills and knowledge.

This undergraduate seminar unit is compulsory for undergraduate students who have been selected for the Industry Based Learning Program in the Faculty of Information Technology. It is a non-weighted unit and is taken in addition to any prescribed coursework.

The seminars are presented by the industry partners of the IBL program and are intended to provide the students with useful knowledge of current industry practise in IT. This seminar series should be attended prior to the commencement of an IBL placement.
