FIT2012 Flash animation and applications - disestablished (30 Nov 2017, 12:17pm) [FLASH ANIM AND APPS (06 Aug 2010, 3:09pm)]

Reasons for Introduction

Reasons for Introduction (15 Feb 2013, 11:04am)

Following the 2004 Review of the Faculty of Information Technology this unit forms part of the Multimedia major established within the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems degree.

Reasons for Change (30 Nov 2017, 12:17pm)

15/3/13 Moving to a flipped classroom format therefore needed to change the delivery format from 2 hr lecture and 2hr lab to 1hr lecture and 3hr lab for implementation in Semester 1 2013.

With the introduction of FIT1035 Digital Media Authoring for the Multimedia Development major of the BITS, this unit has been renamed and will be used for the delivery of Flash based authoring skills to non-Multimedia Development major FIT and non-FIT students.

Feb 2014: modified the learning outcomes to be AQF compliant

March 2014: Admin changes to workload to reflect handbook entry.

9 May 2014 - Added Timetabling requirements.

30/11/2017 - Unit disestablished at FEC 5/17 Item 7.3.

Role, Relationship and Relevance of Unit (06 Aug 2010, 3:36pm)

This unit is designed as a second unit in the series introducing multimedia authoring skills.

The unit further develops the skills and knowledge learned from the first level prerequisite unit FIT1012 Website authoring, and exposes students to the skills, techniques and theory dedicated to digital media authoring for application to multimedia systems with a specific focus on Web and/or CD-ROM based media using Adobe Flash.

This unit is also delivered as a service taught unit into the Faculty of Art and Designs Bachelor of Multimedia and Digital Arts.

Objectives

Objectives (24 Feb 2014, 12:47am)

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • identify and apply the formal processes undertaken for preparing and documenting the design specification and prototype development stages of a multimedia application
  • construct a functional interactive project given a specific brief using a graphical authoring environment (eg: Adobe Flash CS6)
  • identify, design and develop appropriate assets for the creation of a functional user interface using an appropriate navigational structure
  • execute a range of special effects which are commonly required for interactive design in multimedia applications (eg: animation, visual and audio feedback, etc.)
  • demonstrate fundamental programming techniques using the required authoring language (eg: ActionScript 3.0) using a procedural approach to programming development
  • identify and interpret the nature of technical issues that are encountered during the development and testing of a multimedia application
