Unit Code, Name, Abbreviation

FIT1049 IT professional practice (02 Sep 2015, 11:30am) [IT Prof Prac (02 Sep 2015, 11:30am)]

Reasons for Introduction

Reasons for Introduction (02 Sep 2015, 11:31am)

The unit was introduced as a result of the introduction in 2016 of the Monash new university wide undergraduate offerings. The unit was introduced in recognition of the need to develop professional and communication skills in our IT graduates. The new offering of FIT049 is based on the previous common core subject of FIT2003 IT Professional Practice

Reasons for Change (17 Sep 2020, 09:42am)

The timetabling requirements have been clarified to ensure that part 1 of the tutorial is in a room where students have access to a computer and there is a working projector for presentations. The assessment has been changed to move some of the workload from the assignment to the exam. Semester 2, 2016.

Introduced for course architecture programs. Effective semester 1/2016

Prerequisites have been added to prevent student from taking the subject in the first semester of their enrolment in the Faculty of information technology to provide context for the subject.

Mindfulness can run week 2-6 or 7-11 to facilitate scheduling.

December 2016 2 Hour 40% exam to meet new Monash Standard

07/02/2017 - Admin: adding semester of implementation - Semester 2, 2017.

Update of the Scheduling requirements - Semester 1, 2018

15/02/2019 - Admin: removing Malaysia from Location of Offering as they no longer offer this unit, it has been replaced with FIT1055.

20/02/2019 - Removed separate Mindfulness session from workload. Mindfulness will be seemlessly integrated into tutorial as part of reflective professional practice. A mindfulness trained tutor will be part of the tutor team (team teaching in spaces for 90 students in LTB)

19/9/2019: Admin - updating exam duration to include additional 10 minutes as per University requirement.

03/02/20: Admin - minor amendment to wording of workload activity. Removing mention of pracs, as they do not run under this unit.

4/5/2020: As the MSA course 4307 Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences is in teach-out, the MSA offering of this unit has been re-coded to FZA1049 effective Semester 2, 2020. These units will be managed by South Africa and therefore no separate Monatar entries will be made

17/09/2020 Admin: Update to include new assessment and teaching approach fields as per Handbook requirements.
