Reasons for Introduction

Obsolete Reasons for Introduction

Amendment to prohibitions (add CPE5008, GCO5806, IMS5007).The School of Business Systems requests approval to add BEG2621 Commercial Aspects of electronic commerce and BEW2621 Commercial Aspects of electronic commerce to the prohibitions for BUS5020.The demand for this subject has been demonstrated by high enrolments in Semesters 1 and 2, impressive growth, and a consequent decision to offer it in Summer Semester 3 during the past 2 years in the Faculty of Information Technology. There has also been a request that it be offered at Caulfield in Semesters 1 and 2 as a new element of the Masters of Ecommerce in the Faculty of Business and Economics, provided that an adequate quota is achieved. That quota has been achieved and the subject is to be offered at Caulfield in Semester 1 2002. A review of Business Systems degrees by the Industry Based Learning (IBL) sponsors in 2001 recommended that the School of Business Systems offer a cohort of E-commerce subjects and that they have a business orientation. This is one of those subjects and thus it has a recognised community and professional demand. The subject is now offered on 4 campuses - Clayton, Caulfield, Malaysia, and there are plans to introduce it into South Africa in the near future. So it meets the Internationalisation requirement enunciated in the Monash Plan.

Reasons for Change (08 Mar 2005, 11:06am)

Remove prohibition IMS5007 after consultation with SIMS indicated that there is sufficient diversity between the 2 units.
