BUS2011 Programming for business applications [Prog Bus Apps ]

Reasons for Introduction

Reasons for Introduction (30 May 2007, 1:05pm)

Together, the units BUS1060 (or equivalent) and BUS2011 bring Bachelor of Business Systems graduates to a level of Visual Basic programming expertise acceptable to the IT environment in which they are likely to find their initial employment opportunities. The unit BUS1060 introduces students to the fundamentals of the Visual Basic programming environment with an emphasis on developing simple business applications. Graduates of the Bachelor of Business Systems in their first IT role are often expected to produce Internet/intranet/extranet business applications in complex multi- tier, data rich environments. In BUS2011, fundamental VB knowledge gained in BUS1060 (or equivalent) is augmented with several advanced programming topics that will equip a graduate with the necessary programming knowledge and skills to produce such applications.

Reasons for Change (30 May 2007, 1:06pm)

Add prerequisite "or FIT1002" to make available to BBIS students.

The School of Business Systems requests approval to change the lab session time from 2 hours to one hour after feedback from students and staff over the previous year has indicated that 2 hour labs are an ineffective use of teaching resources. Also a request to add MMS3805 to the prohibitions and an update to the prescribed textbook. This is an existing unit. The School of Business Systems requests approval to add an extra offering at Clayton campus in semester 2 to cater for the large enrolment numbers.
